Deadline

The current application deadline is December 15, 2019.  Late applications will be reviewed on a space available basis.

Piney Wood Productions encourages and welcomes the participation of musicians from all backgrounds and does discriminate with regard to age, race, gender sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status, or nation of origin in its admission policies.

Application Materials

Please prepare three files to upload on the application site:

  1. A short resume/artist bio, describing your performance experience, education/musical training, and any recording projects. For groups, please include information about both the group’s history/development and short bios on each of the members. These should all go in one text document.

  2. A brief personal statement describing your work, where you are in your musical development, what you plan to work on at the residency, how you would benefit from participating, and your thoughts on collaborating with other musicians in the program.

  3. A recorded sample of approximately 20 minutes of your music in audio or audio/video format. You should aim to demonstrate the full range of your work by selecting contrasting pieces. Ensembles must submit group recordings. A maximum of three audio/video files may be uploaded to the application platform, but aim for a total length of 20 minutes.

Review of Application
  • Residents are selected by an impartial panel of reviewers on the basis of their submitted material. While some emphasis is placed on artistic merit, consideration is also given to how the artist will benefit from the program and contribute to an atmosphere of creative growth and community.

  • Applicants will be notified as soon as the review of their application is complete – generally within two weeks of the deadline.

Payment and Cancellation/Refund Policy
  • In order to secure a residency position, a nonrefundable 50% deposit is required when the applicant confirms their intention to participate, but no later than four weeks after being notified of their acceptance into the program. The remainder of the fee will be due 30 days prior to the start of the residency.

  • Residencies may be cancelled up to 30 days prior to the start of the residency, in which case a refund of any fees that have been paid above the 50% downpayment will then be processed, less a $100 cancellation fee. There will be no partial refunds for residencies cancelled within 30 days of the start of the program. Exceptions may be made in the case of a documented medical emergency, the death of an immediate family member, or if a replacement can be found on short notice.

  • In the event that the program were to be cancelled by Piney Wood Productions, all payments made prior to that time, with the exception of the application fee, would be refunded in full.
